Step Up 3D

Step Up 3D is so much better than its predecessors. Less of the mediocre plot means more dancing. And boy is the dancing an improvement from the last movie. The outfits are also slowly getting better but this could be due to finally leaving the 2000s behind. This one is actually worth watching if you can get through the first… hour or so. I recommend watching with a friend and making up your own plot as you wait for the good parts to start.

Another rarity with this movie: I feel like I actually may have missed out not seeing this in 3D.  Sure it has the typical “throw things into the camera” 3D effect but there are also effects that were clearly meant to enhance the dance by using 3D in an interesting way. It wouldn’t be worth it to watch the entire movie in 3D for what is probably 3 cool moments but it would’ve been nice to see. This was the first step up movie that I didn’t struggle through so maybe my standards need to be re-calibrated.

I give this movie a solid 4/10 for the impressive dancing alone. Vlad gets a 10/10. My sister and I rewatched just his dance sequences alone about 3 times.
